Delete your Life Map account
Deleting your account removes, straight away:
- your encrypted cloud copies,
- every link you've shared (they stop working),
- Life Map's records of your account.
If you have Life Map Plus, any of its Google Play subscriptions that would renew are stopped first, and Life Map checks with Google that they have, so you won't be charged again. If Google Play can't be reached, nothing is deleted: try again, or cancel it yourself in Google Play and then delete. Afterwards it's worth checking Google Play › Payments & subscriptions, especially if you bought Plus while offline. Time already paid for isn't refunded automatically; to ask about a refund, contact Google Play or lifemap.hq@gmail.com.
History on your phones isn't touched: it stays there, and Life Map asks you to sign in again before you carry on. To delete it from a phone too, use Delete account in the app and tick "also erase this phone". A tiny key file stays in your Google Drive's hidden app folder; it's useless without the cloud copy, and you can remove it in Google Drive › Settings › Manage apps › Life Map › Delete hidden app data.
Delete some of your data, and keep your account
You don't have to delete your account to remove things. In the Life Map app:
- Shared links: You tab › Shared links › Stop on a link, or Stop all my links. A stopped link stops working straight away and is removed from Life Map's storage within a day.
- Crash reports: You tab › Settings › switch off Send crash reports. Reports not yet sent are deleted; ones already sent are removed by Google within 90 days.
- Cloud copy: You tab › Cloud copy › switch off Keep an encrypted copy to stop new copies. To have the copies already made deleted while keeping your account, email lifemap.hq@gmail.com from the Google account you sign in with. They're deleted within one month, then kept no more than 30 days in a trash only Life Map's server can reach.
- Things on your phone (stops, notes, photos, reviews, Home and Work spots) can be removed from the day screen or the You tab at any time. They're never on Life Map's servers except inside your encrypted cloud copy.
Your Google name, email and account ID are kept while you have an account, because they're what lets you sign in. Deleting your account (above) removes them.
